THE PROVIDORE STORY
Following on from the success of Scarvelli, Clare’s dream to bring the country to the city is further realised through the next instalment of her passionate commitment to all things paddock to plate – The Providore.
Through their farming endeavours on the Bellarine Peninsula at Swan Bay Farm, the Voitin family’s experiences have had such a profound impact on them, that Clare’s focus has been to create an opportunity to connect her local community with an insight into the pleasures and benefits of sourcing quality produce direct from our local growers. Whilst this is not always practical to achieve, setting up The Providore in her home town makes this dream of Clare’s a reality.
With a primary focus on showcasing the talent on the Bellarine Peninsula, Clare’s commitment to artisan producers extends to quality food-loving regions around Victoria (and even a little further beyond).
The primary function of The Providore is to support her fellow local good food producers. However, it doesn’t stop there. Clare believes there is a real need to acknowledge the challenges many of us face daily, by providing quality take home meals made from locally sourced seasonal ingredients with true flavour – what Clare calls ‘real food’. When you consider the escalating challenges of our society’s environmental challenges, there’s never been a better time to pause and reflect on what’s really important – our ongoing health and wellbeing. This can be achieved with real food.
Our philosophy at The Providore is simple. To work with the most passionate and committed suppliers and manufacturers of exceptional produce, made with ingredients that are grown and sourced ethically, therefore giving our customers great products with their story.
The plight of many Australian farmers is well known and there has never been a better time to show our support and appreciation by acknowledging them in their efforts – a small way of saying thanks and helping to keep some of the world’s best freshly grown produce on our shores by buying local.
The Providore is exciting – and it’s purpose is unique – it’s not just about the food. It’s about supporting local, building a stronger sense of community, and becoming better informed about how we can eat well, live well and keep it local.
